|

Hello folks
I just want to share a pic of my project drums. I dont get much time to practice these days, let alone work on the project so there isnt much progress for me. BTW after learning about this site and all your great works i finally decided to cash in my collection of pocket change
can you guess how much this is?

then click here
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/idmorfe1/1262547438560.jpg
thats probably 1/4 of my stash i gathered since I moved to Texas 3 years ago
that should get me some shells and stuff. here's a pic of my project
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/idmorfe1/DSC03976.jpg
all pearl shells! ( i just want to say that).i got a couple of stuff in the garage too, mostly stands that need some work. I finally found the time to test my piezo trigger setup up tonight - i'm using a spring sandwiched between slider pads to connect the mesh to the piezo. it worked pretty well IMO. i didnt go with the typical foam because those tend to retain its compressed state. am i making sense? lol
anyway, hopefully i can get an affordable drum rack soon so i can put those part together. I have an extra ion controller so turning the the drumset into a RB kit is stage1. my Dm5 in transit so that'll be stage 2. fingerscrossed for more me time in the near future :\
thanks for viewing guys |

Sweet man, what a great way to start a project.
If there is anything I can help you with parts-wise, let me know.
Pintech has a rack, and I've got access to Gibraltar's full line (as well as a few others). _________________ PSN = el_bobbo

If you need to get rid of some more of that spare change, let me know
I really like the way those shells look. They're quite shiny. I'm sure you are going to very much enjoy that once it's done. |

I had guessed 300, so I was only off by $30.24. But ouch, a 10% processing fee? Next time take the change to your bank, they should do this for free. _________________ Proudly anti-1337-speak, and anti-emoticon. |

I had the same problem. CoinStar takes like 9%. Most banks have coin sorters, but look finding one that actually works. _________________ PSN = el_bobbo

I do have experience in this area. I have a large Jack Daniels bottle that I fill with pocket change, and I take it into the bank every time it fills up. My bottle usually brings in nearly $400, and this looked about 3/4 of that. The math from there was pretty easy.
And I've occasionally had to visit a second branch of my bank to deposit the coins because the first's coin counter was down. _________________ Proudly anti-1337-speak, and anti-emoticon. |

Now I know where are all those pennies I lost in my couch... they went through a worm-hole into your plastic bags!
Congrats and keep us in the loop. _________________

Thanks guys! I actually wanted to take the coins to the bank and put the coins in my car 2 years ago! but I couldnt find time to do that then forgot about it. i just remembered recently when i saw a coinstar thing at walmart (we ran out of baby's milk lol)
anyway, I was going after the look of this particular metallica drumset. i almost bought a 2nd "joey jordison" bass drum but i guess its too soon for a begginner
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/idmorfe1/orangetamadrums.jpg
also here is my approach for the in-drum trigger i mentioned before
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/idmorfe1/DSC03978.jpg
thats upside down of course. its basically sliders and a spring, instead of using dense foam. its sensitive just enough to trigger a rimshot and also gives the mesh ample support. if noone has done this before then I'd like to call it the piezo defibrillator(r)
I'll probably have more questions soon enough for you guys
regards. |

Made a car loan payment complete in loose change? That would be wickedly fun revenge indeed. You should have used more pennies and nickels though! _________________ Proudly anti-1337-speak, and anti-emoticon. |

Here is a pic of my simple lightweight trigger bracket. The beam is a thin shelf thing from homedepot, I just bend the edges and bolted on the lugs. the piezo cradle is the plastic casing of the buzzer/piezo
I also fixed up this hi hat stand for $45. it had a broken cable so I just used an accelerator cable that i was saving for my racecar i needed something longer that the original part.
does anyone have links to turning this stand to work for e drumming? could use some help please. thanks! |

Woah, that looks very nice. I've needed to do this for a while but I wasn't happy with the looks of anything I was coming up with. I'd like a little more detail on the bending process if you please. And could you take a well-lit picture of a corner where you bent it? That's lost in black in the previous photo. _________________ Proudly anti-1337-speak, and anti-emoticon. |
