yeah at $4.99 with mounting hardware you really cant go wrong and it looks to have neoprene or some other type of foam padding around the hook arms.
and yeah ive posted the link to these on another post or two but they would definetley bring the cost down for anyone looking to build your uber guitar rack and now that Ive revisited this thread Im wishing I had built your uber guitar stand myself...
as for the straps we tried it all diffeent ways. Personally id rather not have the straps at all on them but hese guitars are still in service and the kids preferred to have their straps already on for easy grab-n-play. _________________ Why Leash Your Imagination In The First Place?

I've got some of those U-hooks that I used to hang my controllers in the old house... but now that I'm in an apartment, I can't exactly be putting lag-bolt sized holes in the wall.
What I'd like to do is make some kind of rack that can hang my three Beatles guitars on it, for the wall near my console. I've got 40" of wall space to work with and a general plan - but I'm wondering if there's a similar hook that would perhaps bolt into the board or something.
If I had access to the tools I'd need, I'd simply screw my existing hooks into the board and cut off the backs, then fasten the board to the wall through less damaging means.
Any ideas are welcomed. |

Three U-hooks in the wall isn't so big a deal. A little bit of spackling paste http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spackling_paste should do the job nicely to repair the holes when you move out. You'd need at least two holes to mount a rack with and stability anyway, so what's a third? _________________ Proudly anti-1337-speak, and anti-emoticon. |

I think I mentioned it further up in this thread, but I used some hooks that hang on top of a door.
They are meant for towels or bathrobes or something. Basically any time you need extra hanging space and don't have it. You put them over the top of the bathroom door and hang your robe on the back of the door.
I have a closet just by the spot where the xbox is set up so I got a couple of these and just hang the guitars on the closet door. I had to bend the hooks out a bit to let the guitars hang properly, but didn't have to put any holes in the wall. _________________ You, my confused little friend, need a clue. Luckily, I have one here shaped like a nightstick.

Well, there's a big difference between a drywall screw and a lag bolt, I guess.
For the moment, I've got my primary axe hanging from a guitar hanger I had at the old place - looks nicer and is kinder to the wall. I may pick up a couple more of those soon. |
